Moving In

I bought a house at Peregrine Street. This is one of the many things in my Bucket List that I am most excited to put a check mark beside it. As cheesy as it may sound, it is in many ways a dream come true.

It’s just the way I pictured it to be.  A warm and inviting kitchen and a dining room where me and my friends will be serving the best meals we can come up with. I opted for colored and hand-painted tiles not the shiny types to make it warm and cozy. It looks very Mediterranean to me. The tiles were expensive but I think they’re worth it. I’ve always believed that of all the rooms or areas in the house, the kitchen/dining area should have the most character. The tiles did just that. So I am not complaining.

There’s a garden not the humongous kind but not too quaint either just the right size to squeeze in a tree. Hopefully I can plant a willow tree here but I think my friends would want to have a fruit-bearing tree. The garden can house a few rows of bright green leafy plants and couple rows of flowers. There’s a grassy area under the tree which you can see from the kitchen window where we can set up old antique dining furniture whenever we opt to have our meals al fresco. At this point I have to convince my friends about the willow tree (it’s in my Bucket List) since it would absolutely be lovely to have those green leafy tendrils cascade down on us while having dinner. Think of the willow tree as a charming version of the nightmarish Balete tree. Throw in some Christmas lights or some lanterns and it’ll be our own version of Peter Pan’s Neverland.

The house has a lot of rooms. I made it that way because I knew I’d be inviting friends to live with me. You have to love these rooms because they’re huge. At first I thought it would be nice to have dormitory type of rooms (I’ve always wanted to experience the ‘dorm life’) but I think it’ll stifle everyone’s individualism. So I decided to make them ‘roomy’ instead big enough to have a receiving area or a mini living room. There’s also space to set up a study nook or some office furniture, a king sized bed, a walk-in closet, a couple shelves for books and our own comfort rooms. Too bad that the comfort rooms don’t have any bathtubs but don’t worry there’s a bathtub in the first floor in our huge common bathroom. Oh another Bucket List for me: Bathtub Sex! But don’t worry I wont use our bathtub for that. Although there aren’t any house rules yet, I’m pretty sure that’s a No-No for alot of us. (Next topic na ang House Rules!)

Anyway, I wanted the rooms to be big enough so each of us can set up or own little worlds inside them. You can customize it all you want as far as interior design is concerned. Meaning you can paint your walls neon green or rearrange furniture or bring in new furniture or situate your bed on the ceiling or whatever. Just don’t bring down the walls or bore holes in the walls big enough to see Jervin and Sugar in their intimate moments. At this point I’m also confident that none of you have satanic inclinations. So I don’t have to worry about human sacrifices as decor in the room next to me.

The best part of the house would be our living area which despite its size (very spacious) is very cozy. Actually it’s more like a common room. Much like the common rooms at Hogwarts only brighter. This is my payboritz because this is the part of the house where we’ll be seeing each other most of the time (or should it be the kitchen?) especially when we watch American Idol together or trade the juiciest gossips. This is where we will be sharing our craziest, cheesy-est, emo-est, horny-est, sweetest, or whatever-est stories. I’m thinking of buying a piano so we can invite Llou to play for us while Thone attempts to out-do Mimi or Renzen singing May Bukas Pa whistle version or Reuel’s  angelic version of Buloy.

 A lot of these things aren’t plans anymore. A lot of these things are already in place. But there are a lot of things still on the drawing board. Today I walked into the house I bought where my friends can live with me. Today I am looking for housemates.
